제1장

Hi JK :

스스로에게 건내는 인사

HiJK는 알파벳의 연속되는 글자이며 연속성을 나타낸다. 또한 김진경 작가의 이니셜 JK앞에 ‘Hi’를 붙임으로 작가가 스스로에게 건내는 인사이기도 하다.

'나는 누구인가, 왜 행복하지 않은가, 왜 안녕하지 못한가.' 내가 앞으로 계속 숨쉬기 위해선 무엇을 해야 하는가.

작가 스스로 안녕하기 위해서는 계속 그림을 해야겠다고 결론을 지었다. 숨쉬길 포기하면 숨이 멎듯이, 숨이 멎지 않도록 계속 예술을 해야한다.

누군가는 전혀 이해하지 못할지도 모르지만, 그렇게 태어난 것을 다른 수가 없다. 나는 나로 살아가야 가장 최선일 것이다. 물고기에게 물이 사치라고 말하는 이가 없듯이, 나에게 예술이란 사치가 아닌 내가 살 수 있는 환경인 듯 했다.

나에게 산다는 것과 예술을 한다는 것은 동의어가 되었다.

chapter.01 Hi JK: Annyeng to yourself

HiJK is a continuous letter of the alphabet and represents continuity. It is also a greeting that the writer gives itself by attaching "Hi(Annyeng)" to the front of artist Kim Jin-kyuong's initial JK.

"Who am I, why am I not happy, why am I not Annyeong?"

What do I have to do to keep breathing from now on.

In order for the artist to be well-being myself, conclued that I should continue to paint.

Just as giving up breathing stops you from breathing, I should continue to do art so that you don't stop breathing.

One may not understand at all, but it can't be different to be born that way.

I'll be the best I can be.

Just as no one told fish that water was too much, it seemed to me that art was not a too much but an environment in which I could live in.

To me, living and doing art have become synonymous.
